Poppy was formerly rescued and owned by an elderly gentleman in Spain in 2014.  Having to go into a nursing home, sadly, there was no one in his family or any friends he knew who could offer Poppy the safety of a loving home for the rest of her life; there was no choice other than Poppy to go into the kill station.  Thankfully this was not the case and beautiful Poppy joined the HOTS family in August 2018.

Poppy was originally rescued from her fourth known home following a car accident.  Thankfully she has fully recovered from the incident following treatment and physiotherapy combined with all the love and care in the world that she could receive.  She was dearly loved by her former home and our hearts broke for the gentleman having to make the most awful decision possible and one that a true dog owner would dread to make.

Poppy is an absolute sweetheart and once she realises that she is safe and the human she is with is kind, she very quickly makes a lifelong bond to the extent that she suffers from separation anxiety - she is frightened to be left alone.  Puzzle toys come to her rescue as she is very food orientated which makes training Poppy easy combined with the fact that she is highly intelligent and truly wants to please.

Her last owner spent time with Poppy and taught her many commands and she loves to show off her skills being an extremely well-trained dog.  Her new owner will utterly enjoy any time spent with Poppy.  She loves being with people including children but can be nervous around other dogs having been set on in the past.  She can also be frightened around loud noises such as fireworks and music for example.

Cuddles, kisses, love and care...not much to ask for when she has been through so much in her short life.
